The North Wake County Baseball Association is a not-for-profit organization that supports the development of potential baseball players of all ages, ranging from 5 years old through second year collegiate players. We pride ourselves on maintaining a delicate balance between a very competitive environment and a sufficiently large league to provide opportunity for many kids to play almost year round. Programs are offered during the spring, summer, and fall seasons and support up to 1,000 kids playing at any one time. Through organization by age and skill group the league takes special care to ensure all players are challenged at the appropriate level.
North Wake has supported baseball in this region for over 25 years. During that time it has grown to include American Legion and Collegiate baseball offerings, and showcase teams that are selected through our Greater Raleigh Fall Baseball League (GRFBL). These fall elite teams play in special tournaments designed to highlight top talent in the region, and offer a player substantial visibility to scouts from across the country.
At any one time the association has board officers and coaches that have played high school, college, and professional baseball. All these talented individuals are interested in sharing their love for the game of baseball. Dedicated volunteers such as these have created opportunity for thorough and knowledgeable instruction along with guidelines that focus on practice and the development of every participant. This has led to an increasingly popular league that has become sought out by players of all ages. It has also been instrumental in developing over 300 young players that have had the opportunity to play college baseball.
As you probably recall this past year the UNC Tarheels made it to the finals of the College World Series. Four members of that team were also former North Wake players, participating in either the spring regular season, or the GRFBL that was established to create additional development opportunities during the fall. One player that was key to UNCs success was shortstop Josh Horton. Josh recently commented, North Wake baseball, and in particular the Greater Raleigh Fall Baseball league offered me a chance to develop my skills for play beyond high school by competing with the best talent and athletes in the area. I am grateful for the opportunity to have participated in North Wake baseball and appreciate the skills I have developed through interacting with strong competition and coaching in the league".
Again, if you have a child interested in baseball please take the time to read through our web site or contact a member of the Board of Directors for additional information.
